War on Terror almost over (Aaron Webb)

It’s being reported that “Al-Qaida’s number three” has been killed for the (well I’ve lost count) time.  This must mean that the “war on terror” is drawing to an end.  It is literally right around the corner.  More likely it is now within our grasp.  I think it is probably just within arms reach.  So close now you can almost taste it.  I especially like how this little bit is glossed over:

A statement posted on an al-Qaida Website said al-Yazid, which it described as the organization’s top commander in Afghanistan, was killed along with his wife, three daughters, a grandchild and other men, women and children but did not say how or where. (emphasis mine)

Once again they hate us for our freedoms.

IL Senators Durbin and Burris ♥ the FED (Aaron Webb)

Shocking news out of Illinois this morning.  Senators Durbin and Burris vote NAY on a bill introduced in the Senate yesterday to audit the Fed.  The original bill introduced in the Senate had much of the same language as Ron Paul’s bill to Audit the Fed introduced in the House that eventually had over 300 cosponsors.  The Senate watered down that version which eventually became the Dodd Fed Empowerment Act, which virtually eliminated all of the audit provisions in the original bill.  Dodd’s bill passed the Senate 96-0.  Senator David Vitter introduced an amendment to Dodd’s bill that would have restored all of the original provisions and allowed a full and transparent audit of all Fed activities, it was defeated 37-62.  By voting NAY on Senator Vitter’s amendment Durbin and Burris have signaled that it’s business as usual with anything regarding the Fed, with business as usual being Don’t Ask, but if you do We Won’t Tell.

Franklin County is recession-proof (Aaron Webb)

It seems that during our local Rend Lake Water Festival Parade the organizers had a hard time defining what a business actually is. So instead of looking around the area to find one that provides a service or manufactures a good, I could name many, they instead give the “Business of the Year” award to the members of the unproductive class.  Yes, that does say US Army Corp of Engineers, just ask the citizens of New Orleans how “successful” they are.

Writes Wladimir Kraus:

Government is a consumer, albeit a consumer of a special kind. Hence, all of its activities and programs, whether to finance various welfare projects, public education, or construction of roads, dams, and infrastructure are consumptive by their very nature. Like any other consumer, the government must turn to the production process — that is, to producers — for its funds. But unlike ordinary consumers, who obtain their incomes through voluntary exchange, the government obtains its income by means of forcible taxation.

Illinois to get free high-speed rail system (Aaron Webb)

It makes no difference to Gov. Pat Quinn that the state of Illinois is broke, he wants a high-speed rail system no matter what the cost to the taxpayers.  But just in case you thought that the money wasn’t there for such a project the Gov offers this little gem:

Quinn says the state’s budget crisis won’t affect the plans because of “ample revenues” in the capital fund, which is separate from the general revenue fund.

You see, it’s the general revenue fund that is broke not the capital fund (these are entirely separate loot pots).  But just in case you are skeptical as to whether there is enough loot in the capital fund we are given this:

The White House has announced federal stimulus money for high-speed rail.

Phewwww!!!

It’s looking like a preemptive attack on Canada is imminent

If one uses the same logic that the U.S. government does in regards to Iraq and Iran.

Green Zone USA

The Department of Homeland Security, if only Orwell were alive today, is busy building its new headquarters outside Washington D.C.  It is stated as being the largest Federal waste of taxpayer funds make-work project since the building of the Pentagon in 1940.   How lucky one would be to live amongst the 14,000 DHS workers coming and going everyday.

A Trip Down Market Street in San Francisco circa 1905

This is one of my favorite YouTube videos. I love the way everything during this time just seemed to work. The people, the streetcars, horse drawn carriages all just seem to flow with ease.  I especially love the enthusiasm you see from all the boys running around.  You can tell that this is probably one of their first exposures (no pun intended) to a movie camera. One thing you will NOT notice are traffic cops. All this happens without the overreaching hand of the state to “guide” us in the right direction.

Ron Paul vs. Ben Bernanke at JEC Hearing 4/14/10

Ron Paul takes Ben Bernanke to task over the latest global bailout and IMF money grab. Helicopter Ben stumbles all over himself trying to explain where the money will actually come from.  In the end he never gives a straight answer, no surprise there.

“They” Hate Us For Our Freedoms (Aaron Webb)

There really is no explanation required, just watch the video. The only thing that can really be said is that it is disgusting. All the flag wavers out there that believe the government line that they hate us for our freedoms should rethink that after seeing something like this. Imagine the outrage and utter hatred you would feel towards another country or government if the shoe was on the other foot. Imagine the things that you might contemplate doing if say you lived in a third world country and the people responsible for something like this were from somewhere that had the most deadly killing machine known to man available to them. The fact that people can’t see why someone would resort to terrorist tactics against an oppressive, murdering government such as ours is beyond me. It’s things like this that are responsible for the blowback we have incurred in the recent past.

UPDATE:  Alex Jones’ commentary pretty much sums it up.

CNN Attempt To Portray Patriots As Terrorists Backfires, Segment Fails To Air (Paul Joseph Watson)

You absolutely must check out the video that accompanies this article.  Alex Jones completely owns the nitwit who was trying to portray him and other liberty minded groups and individuals as violent extremists.  The fact that they decided not to air the segment speaks volumes about their agenda.

A CNN Anderson Cooper segment which was set to demonize critics of big government and Obamacare as violent extremists backfired after radio host Alex Jones pointed out that corporate media outlets like CNN were responsible for killing over a million Iraqis as a consequence of their repeated lies about weapons of mass destruction.

Jones was invited for an interview on Friday to appear later that evening on Anderson Cooper 360, but the segment never aired, presumably because CNN program chiefs were so embarrassed at Jones’ proficiency in exposing how corporate news networks owned by the military-industrial complex were a far deadlier threat than any of the menagerie of domestic “extremists” CNN has sought to demonize in recent weeks.

Jones immediately recognized the tone of the hit piece when the interviewer began a barrage of questions attempting to discredit grassroots political movements by smearing them as dangerous radicals.
